The China Market

The world’s fastest-growing economy

Real growth in the Chinese publishing market is the strongest in the world despite reported slowdown elsewhere in the economy, driven by increasing government investment in education and research and the spending power of a growing middle class, for which, whatever the vagaries of national economic growth may be, the value of education remains a given. Alongside growth in the traditional publishing market, digital channels are also growing in China, as elsewhere, but they are growing in a distinctive way. For foreign publishers, access to the market in digital formats is not regulated in the same way as print. Market insight and expertise to guide investment or commercial strategy has never been more important.
